Lady Gaga is not a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself
is the art. She is the sculpture. Gaga is well-recognized for her outré sense
of style in fashion, in performance and in her music videos. Her contributions
to the music industry have garnered her numerous achievements. In addition, she
tried hard to change the world as well. In her 2nd album, "Born This
Way" this song is talking about gay thing. Gaga attributes much of her
early success as a mainstream artist to her LGBT (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals,
Transgender) fans and is considered to be an icon. "There is nothing wrong
with loving who you are, 'cause he made you perfect babe." is the most
inspiring lyrics that she advocates strongly. But she also suffered many
criticisms.
Recently, Gaga has plastic surgery to put many edged objects under
her skin, which indeed makes her look like a sculpture. In order to have a
deeper understanding of her song "Born This Way", I search for whole
lyrics of this song, and the music video which is really shocking and scary; maybe
it's her idea again of how to present this MV.
There are always some criticisms of her extraordinary behaviors,
such as wearing beef dress and so on. Actually, I didn't pay attention on news
about Gaga. No matter what, Gaga is true and brave to be herself. I don't think
she has done something wrong. Though I won't behave like the way she is, I
appreciate her talents and unrestrained thoughts.
Besides, I don't think the theme of her songs (LGBT) is
controversial. Instead, she is telling people that "we (including LGBT and
colored people) are the same race. We are all human." In my opinion, Gaga
doesn't change anybody's mind. What she tries to do is to speak out her thoughts.
She doesn't force anybody and tell them, "Hey! You must listen to
me." People decide what they believe and agree through their free will. If
you don't agree with Gaga, that's fine, ignore it as you want.
Gaga uses the most direct way to call for everybody's attention on
certain issue. Those direct ways may be too sharp for ordinaries, but it's the
most useful method. People are all curious about what Gaga will do next. They
are all attracted by her unusual traits. As for the second question, I will go
straight on my way because I am the one who is living my own life. Most of the
conservatives we face are our parents and the elders of our own family. Though
it is said that "An old man's sayings are seldom untrue", the final
decision is made by ourselves. As long as we don't commit crimes, it our
freedom to be anyone we like.
It's amazing that Gaga can gain such fame at such a young age; she
is only twenty-five! Gaga's charity work is known by many people. I think she
knows her responsibility to the society. Since she is a celebrity who is known
by people all over the world, of course people will focus on her every
movement. Odd behavior is her personal style while charity work is her concern
to the minority. What will I be at her age? Maybe I'll become a white-collar
worker. I don't think I can do as well as Gaga does, but I always have a goal
in my mind. Once I start to earn my own money, I'll participate in the child
sponsorship program which is held by World Vision. With seven hundred NT
dollars per month, I can make the life of a child in poverty better. What I can
do to the world is small; however, I'll still go on my way.
