World Earth Day

I do not know what the date of World Earth Day is. So, of course I search the Internet and find that the World Earth Day has already passed for many days; it's on April 22. I only had one course on April 22, and I spent rest of my time staying at home, turning on the air-conditioner and using my laptop computer. It is obvious that I do not do all the things above to protect the earth in my daily life.

However, I have done five of the eight things above. The refrigerator in my home is never filled. Like the article mentioned, we can save the electricity by doing so. I also give those clothes that I no longer wear to people who are in need, thus the clothes can be reused. When it comes to eating, I always order moderate amount of food that I can afford, so there's no leftovers in my plate. Besides, I unplug electric equipments when they are not in use. In recent years, my family members no longer burn the paper money.

There are still some other ways to protect the earth. The first one is taking the mass transportation system or riding a bike. The purpose of the two methods is to reduce the carbon emission. In addition, we can reap physical benefits from riding a bike. Second, eating vegetables can also decrease the emission of greenhouse gases (like carbon dioxide or marsh gas which are exhausted by cattle). Last but not least, bring your own shopping bag, cup and tableware when you shop or eat outside. These are all easy and useful green ideas in our daily life.

In order to save the earth, I have tried to reduce the using time of air-conditioner in recent years. Actually, I only turn on my air-conditioner when the room temperature is over 30 degree Celsius. And I never turn it on more than one hour because I only want to cool down the air. Then I will turn on the fan, letting the cool air flowing in the whole room. Up till now, I use the air-conditioner no more than 3 times this year. In the following years, I'll try my best to achieve the goal of using only fan and natural wind.

I think it's hard for a poor developing country to protect the environment and improve the economy simultaneously. Every developed country had once undergone the process of ignoring environmental importance. If I were Brazil government, I would still put the economy as priority. When the whole country has a steady economic system, then I'll start to improve the environment. On the other hand, if I were the government of a developed country, I would lend money to those developing countries. Lending money could speed up their economic growth. Also, if they have enough money, they won't need to cut down rainforests for money.

Those scientists may think that the moon or Mars could be the possible choice to live in, but I don't think so. I think what they are doing is putting the cart before the horse. There's no water or oxygen can be found on the two planets. It's more possible that the earth will be destroyed earlier than the time humans find another planet to live. I think it is waste of time and money to search for somewhere else to live. If we all die on earth, who will care about living in other places? For all the human beings, saving the earth is the front burner!
